St. Patricks Day isn’t a huge holiday for my family, but for me, the vibrant green shamrock is a symbol of SPRING! Even still, I wanted to bring in a little of this green to celebrate so I came up with this cute shamrock St Patricks Day craft.
Although we never celebrated St. Patricks Day, as a child, I would sit on my grandparent’s lawn during the summer and look for four leaf clovers. One summer I found probably 7 of them and I even found a 5 leaf clover! I tried preserving them by sealing them between two sheets of wax paper, but I’m sad to say they didn’t make it till now.
So in honor of my shamrock searching days, I wanted to find an easy and inexpensive way to decorate for St. Patricks, so to the dollar store I went! I found these shiny bright green shamrocks and decided to put a few of them together. This St Patricks Day craft took me literally 5 minutes to make and cost me less than $4! I got a package of three colors of bakers twine at the dollar store AND I still have tons left so I can use it for other projects.
St Patricks Day Craft Supplies
3 glittery shamrocks
Green bakers twine
Drill (I use this awesome RYOBI drill)
9/64 drill bit
Shamrock Door Decor
First arrange the shamrocks how you’d like ( I did dark green, light green, dark green for some variation) and cut off the top ribbons that are used for hanging. You’ll replace this with your bakers twine. I love how our drill matches my project in this picture!
Next, make holes in the bottom of the top two shamrocks. Each one is made with a dense and stiff cardboard material, so to make holes, you’ll need to use a drill. I used a 9/64 drill bit for the holes. It works well for the baker’s twine, just be sure your hole is a little bigger than the diameter of your string.
And finally, use a small amount of bakers twine to connect the top to the middle and the middle to the bottom shamrocks. Be sure to tie a square knot so it doesn’t slip.
Hang it on an inside or outside door to enjoy!
