Easy Halloween Costumes for Adults
I love making costumes and dressing up my kids any old time, but when it comes to costumes for myself…..I like to be practical and cute and if at all possible comfortable. So its not surprising that many of my favorite costumes involve a fitted T and a comfy pair of pants.
#1 iPod – Free Printable Iron On
When I the inspiration came for this outfit, at first I envisioned a giant cardboard sculpture and then I thought about how not comfortable that would be so instead I went for my favorite staple. Iron on with a well fitting knit shirt. I found this knit shirt at Walmart for less than $10 and the gather details on the wrists and hips gave it a little something special. But my favorite part of this outfit are the GIGANTIC ear buds made with a few items from the dollar store wrapped in duct tape.
This works great for a guy and a girl, so just pick a favorite T-shirt and add the details. Then you are good to go.
Here is the free printable for the iPod Iron On (dark t-shirt transfer iron on recommended):
So what is the Diet Coke and M&M’s for? Well I can’t concentrate on a project with out a little pick me up…..;)
Hot glue the Colander to the bowl and jump rope and then wrap in duct tape.
#2 Superman – Super Girl
So, if you don’t already know by now, I am a sucker for deals at Walmart. Though sometimes at Wally-World it’s hit or miss as for the fit. But there are diamonds there hiding among the masses. I LOVE their t-shirt and sweatshirt jacket costumes for adults. The womens shirts are contoured and have a long torso so they are pretty perfect for flying from activity to activity. And they guys shirts go great with jeans and sneakers.
Grab an solid shirt, and make it a cute one. This V-neck t is perfect and the zig zag crayon stripe makes its a little more fun. With a free iron on printable, putting this costume together is pretty straight forward.

Just an FYI, the artwork is backwards because with the light transfers you put them face down on the material and then when they are finished they will be oriented the right way.
Use a piece of felt to cover an old head band and glue a bowl and cup to the top of the head band. Bam, its done!
#4 Meet the Candidate
Nothing beats a costume you can pull right out of the closet, especially if its pretty dapper. Dressing up as your favorite candidate is as easy as adding a little gray to the side burns and printing out their campaign sign.
#5 Bat Girl / Bat Man
This will most likely be your most comfortable costume. Just print an iron on, or cut the Batman logo from felt and attach to the front of a black shirt. I made mine from felt and pinned it from behind with safety pins. I put on my most comfy black slacks and it was easy, flattering, and didn’t cost me anything.
#6 Wild Thing
This hat is a great project even for a novice sewer. If you can thread the machine, you can make this hat. Just 12″ of fur and a liner is all you need to make this cute and furry hat. Link to the pattern here.
Use the Basic Hat Pattern, and make it with out the front flap. Sew in two triangles for ears and you’re done. “Wild thing, I think I love you…”
#7 Deer and Hunter
With so many cute deer make up tutorials that you can make with just your regular eye shadow and liner, this is a perfect easy outfit for a couple to sport.
