What do kids like for breakfast more than doughnuts? Not much! I know I liked doughnuts when I was a kid, and even now and then I have a craving for a doughnut as an adult. This is the perfect Easter breakfast for kids of all ages and even those adults who have a sweet tooth.
Don’t these doughnut holes look so festive! Set them on a plate of green coconut or spear them on a paper straw and enjoy some milk.
Easter Breakfast Doughnut Holes
To make these fun Easter egg doughnuts, you’ll only need a few ingredients:
Glazed Doughnut Holes
White Chocolate Chips
Food coloring or Food Gel
Decorative Pearls and Sprinkles
First up is preparing your coconut. Place a cup of sweetened coconut in a sandwich sized Ziploc bag and add 4-5 drops of green food coloring. Work the color around by tossing the coconut around the bag until fully colored.
Next, melt the chocolate. I like to use my glass Pyrex measuring cup to melt chocolate in the microwave. Add one cup to your Pyrex cup and microwave for 20 seconds. Take out and stir and microwave for another 20 seconds, stir. Place in microwave once more and microwave for another 20 seconds and stir. Now you’re chocolate is ready for dipping.
Dip the bottom of each doughnut hole in the chocolate and dip in a bowl of your green coconut.
Lay on a cooling rack with a sheet of wax paper under it to collect any chocolate that drips.
The next portion is great for giving the kiddos something to do. Take the remaining chocolate and melt again in the microwave. Use food coloring to made two or three colors of chocolate.
Add the chocolate to a snack or sandwhich size Ziploc and cut a very small corner for piping the chocolate on the doughnuts. Drizzle the chocolate on the doughnut and embellish with sprinkles.
Enjoy your “egg”cellent Easter breakfast!
